This was a good buy
Worked straight out of the box, easy and quick to set up. It takes up desk space because, obviously, it needs to cope with standard paper sizes, but it's thin, so a shelf solution just above the desk works. Very lightweight, perfectly good quality scans, easy to operate. We normally research this sort of thing a lot before buying, but this was one of those 'the scanner isn't working, get a new one quick' scenarios, so we didn't, but this was a good buy.

Great for scanning photos
I bought this exclusively for scanning in old photos and for £65, I am very happy with it.It took me about 2 hours to scan 250 photos. I scanned two at a time at 600 dpi and the quality is fine for me. The software for this scanner will automatically separate and crop the photos, so by scanning two at a time, as long as you leave a gap between them, the scanner will create two separate images on your computer and they will be perfectly cropped and aligned - so you don't need to keep them straight when putting them into the scanner. It takes about 30 seconds for the scanner to scan 2 photos at 600 dpi.Once you play around with it to make sure you know what you're doing and that you're happy with the quality, it doesn't take long to work through the photos and scan them all in.The software (which can be downloaded) is pretty straightforward and easy to use. If you are on macOS, you don't even need any drivers (not sure about Windows but they are all on the Canon website anyway). The only thing I will say is that this scanner has a lock switch on the bottom - I've no idea what this is for (maybe to stop your kids from scanning stuff?) but it is important to put it to the unlocked position or the scanner won't work. And if you unlock it whilst it's already plugged into the computer, you will need to disconnect and reconnect it to the computer (i.e. unplug / plug in the USB cable) after you put the switch to unlock, otherwise your computer might not detect it.This scanner also does not need any power source / plug socket, which is handy. It gets power from your computer (the USB cable is supplied).Overall I am very happy with this scanner - it did exactly what I wanted it to do and it was pretty cheap.

Works well, but not great for artists
I'm a traditional artist. Bought as I needed a scanner and was on a budget. For a budget scanner it's great! Max size is A4 and scans up to 600 dpi which is good enough for what I needed it for. However I played around with scan settings and image formats, but whatever I did, the colours are very washed out in the scans. It's nothing a bit of saturation/hue adjustment can't fix, and my work uses a lot of bright colours so most people likely won't need to worry, and its fine for what I need. It picks up textures really well, however if you're using it to scan a lot of photographs/flat drawings etc consistently I'd bite the bullet and spend a little more. Very easy to use however does need a DVD drive to install.

Ease of Use, Convenient and Fast
this time the scanner works well. just plugged in and it scanned with ease. great for a portable device at home for personal documents, inserting images into papers.if you want very high quality then you need to use an industrial scanner on full size copier at work or in a store.

Compact, Fast, Quality scanning
Bought this from Amazon warehouse where it was advertised as having damage to the box. It had been opened but was in it's original packaging and appeared to be complete although the scanner had been unlocked. It comes with an installation CD but the software can be downloaded from the canon website.Setup was easy and scanning results were good. Scanning was not possible at the maximum advertised resolution (4800dpi), but this can be adjusted in the settings which I have not investigated yet.The scanner is powered though the USB port from the PC so no other power supply is required which reduces the cables you need. It is also provided with a stand so it can be mounted on it's side. I haven't tried this yet so can't confirm if it is easy to use like this. When used flat, it is a little larger than a sheet of A4 so doesn't take up too much space on your work top.Scanning is fast and it has the ability to scan multiple items at the same time (not tested yet) so should aid productivity when scanning a high workload.

Beautiful little device but not A3 physical device its A4 with A3 capabilities.
I typed in the Amazon serach engine, A3 scanners so this came up not being very Tech savvy just ordered.OK on arrival my initial thought was this thing is A4 i checked my order again the order matched the product. I thought how the hell is this going to scan A3 dose it extend some where ?My brain is working over time now The size A4 is still making me feel gutted but I set it up anyway using the software provided, this was easy. Now I thought I have two scanners one attached to the printer should I send this thing back ?But as I'm setting up the software and start to scan and questioning myself keeping it or sending it back?I notice the ease and versatility of having it on the desk in stead of moving the printer I begin to smile and bam!The magic hit the saving grace the stitch function this is the game changer it took 2 A4 pages and stitch them together as A3 AMAZING so it was meant to be the scans are amazing quality I also scanned in a fabric print I liked omg! stunning quality and the scanner is so slim and light and can be easily packaged away I am very pleased with it and I'm glad I worked out how to use the A3 function as I scan a lot of book graphics for educational purposes.I have not played around with all the features of the software but this will be on a need to use basis like life we learn as we go alongHappy scanning people.
