Nice combination of arcade stick and controller
When I bought the Neo Geo Mini, part of the disappointment for me was that the arcade stick didn't really feel like an arcade stick. I have a Mayflash arcade stick on hand, but for whatever reason, it wouldn't work with the Neo Geo mini. So I turned to Amazon and found this. I didn't really have much experience with the 8BitDo brand personally, but I have always heard good things about them, so I went ahead and bought one.The main thing I like about this controller is the clickiness of the stick. It's kind of a hyrbrid between an arcade stick and a modern day controller's thumbstick and seems to sit on a ball joint of sorts. While it doesn't give the feeling of holding an arcade stick, I think it works pretty well for emulating that arcade feeling.I haven't had it very long so I don't know how long the battery will last or how long the controller will last, but it feels pretty sturdy in the hand and the controller connected right away to the dongle. The dongle itself is a USB, so you can plug it into anything that accepts USB; however, the Neo Geo Mini (the thing that I bought it specifically for) does not have a USB port, so 8BitDo includes a USB to USB C adapter in the box. Can't see them selling a controller for the Neo Geo Mini without an adapter, but it's still really nice to know it's there.Controller itself charges with a USB to USB C adapter, which is also included. Even though the controller connects to the dongle via 2.4...signal (not sure what exactly it's called), there is a switch on the back that sets it to bluetooth. I don't know the range or reliability of the bluetooth, but the 2.4 seemed pretty good. I didn't notice any sort of lag. I played some shooters on the Neo Geo and it seemed to be pretty accurate.Unlike Retro Fighter's controllers, there's no Turbo feature, which is not a deal breaker for me, but should be noted. All in all, though, this was a great purchase and has made my Neo Geo experience better.

Fantastic replica of the SNK NGCD controller!
Although I'm an SNK fan, I never got to actually try out the Neo Geo CD console or its controller as of the time of this review, so I can't really make much of a comparison on how well this controller holds up to the original NGCD controller. But what I can definitely say is that this controller works very well! :) The micro switch thumbstick is very responsive and has a very nice clicky feel to it, which I imagine is on-par with the original controller. The buttons are also very responsive and all work well. I don't know how well it compares to the original pads, but from what I've seen, it's pretty close, if not identical.I've tried a couple of neo geo games on PC with the controller and they all work fantastic. I've also tried out some steam games with it and they worked pretty well too. :) Obviously this controller won't work well with certain games that require more than six buttons (considering the controller only has four face buttons and two shoulder buttons.) but I got this controller with the intention to use it more on neo geo games and games that use six buttons or less, so this is not a dealbreaker for me.I've heard mixed opinions on the neo geo mini controllers that are replicas of the NGCD controller. As with the original pad, I've never got to use one of those as well, so I also cannot make any comparisons with those too, but if you were disappointed by how those versions were built, I think you will be very happy with this new controller as an upgrade to those mini pad controllers. :) Especially since this controller can also be used on the neo geo mini itself! (I'm assuming it can be used on the Neo Geo Arcade Pad Pro as well, but I'd look this up just in case as I don't own that console either.)As of this review, the controller is advertised to work with Windows PC, Android devices, and Neo Geo Mini. From what I heard, a beta firmware was released that allows it to be used on the Nintendo Switch and Analogue Dock, but I'd advise you to google for more information on that department. Would be great for them to eventually release firmware updates to officially support those systems. Also heard the controller works great for the Mister.Overall, this is a fantastic replica of the NGCD controller and definitely one I'd recommend for any SNK fans out there. :) Although I'd recommend just getting the standard version of the controller as oppose to the special edition that have character sprites from the king of fighters games printed onto the controllers.

Excellent, but requires some time to adapt
It works great. I like the quality and the feels of the buttons. I grew up watching NeoGeo consoles and tests in magazines and being able to finally get at least a controller is awesome. Now, the "pad" is working great BUT you will need a period of adaptation to learn how it works.Because it looks and feels like an analog stick, you will have to train your brain to see it as a 'D-pad" : meaning that you will have to force yourself to travel until the end of the direction to get the click and thus the input in the game.So this pad has a lot of travel, if you have small hands, it will be a bit challenging. It is a gymnastic and you need to get used to it. But when you do, it works great, and it is very precise. For info: I use it on my macbook pro m1.
