Not overly impressed sadly.
I am a big fan of water chestnuts. I use at least one can a week and was looking forward to being able to have a bulk box delivered to my door....but they were not great. The price per can without shipping for those that do not get free shipping comes out to be $2.33 per can. Local grocery stores have them priced $1.29 on average. The idea of them being delivered to my doorstep...so worth it. But....out of the 6 cans I have opened so far 3 of them have been mushy. I have until now never had a mushy water chestnut and so that was surprising to me. Also note that I did not leave them for a long period of time after delivery. I opened the first 6 cans within two weeks of the box delivery. With the cost being almost double over the local grocery stores and half of the cans I have opened thus far have been mushy...so the value simply isn't there. Perhaps I got a bad batch...but I will not be ordering this bulk box again.

Good raw or cooked
I'm used to having water chestnuts in my stir-fry and other cooked dishes, but these can be consumed cooked or raw, so I am giving them a go as a crouton replacement in my salads. Obviously, they are not even close to the same, but I can't have the croutons anymore and I miss the crunch. These do add a nice crunch though and add a new twist to my salads. We don't have access to fresh chestnuts where I live, which I've heard have more flavor, so having these canned ones available is a great option plus they are already prepped so very convenient to grab and use. I've read that they are full of antioxidants and are actually pretty nutritious, so it's an addition to my meals I can feel good about too.

Adds a nice crunch.
I make lots of different stir fry dishes and I like to add sliced water chestnuts for a little crunch. I’ve never used Geisha brand but these water chestnuts are just as good as the LaChoy brand I usually use.Water chestnuts are a neutral bland flavor alone. They add a nice crunch but they take on the flavors of the sauces or salad dressings that you use on them. These water chestnuts are uniformly sliced and provide that nice crunch.I’ve used these in a chicken stir fry dinner and I’ve even added some to a salad I made for lunch (this was a first for me. I’ve never used them in a salad before.) They are delicious, even in my salad and give me the nice crunch I was looking for.Great addition for my pantry. I know I’ll always have water chestnuts there and won’t have to be without.

Bland
These take me back to the days of my youth, when Chinese food was still looked on as something exotic, and things like water chestnuts and bean sprouts could only be obtained out of a can. These days I have five Asian markets within a fifteen market drive, and my local supermarkets stock fresh bean sprouts and three kinds of Chinese green vegetable. Fresh water chestnuts have a crunchy texture and a mild, sweet, nutty flavor. These have a very soft texture, and almost no flavor at all. They’re ideal for recreating something like school lunchroom chop suey.

Crunchy, no weird ingredients
There is only water chestnuts and citric acid in these which is great, as I'm not a fan of too much preservatives or other ingredients in my food. They are evenly sliced, and crunchy. Worked well to add some extra crunch in my spinach dip. Flavor is mild as expected (water chestnuts are mostly texture and don't have much flavor usually). They are canned well, and store well with an exp 03/2026. Product of China.Note: These do have CA Prop 65 warning on them, but this is not unusual in a natural product.

Adds a nice crunch
This is an iconic staple in things like school lunch American chop suey.I add these water chestnuts into asian stir frys whenever the wok makes an appearance in my kitchen. These don't really have any flavor, but they add a really nice crunch!

Fresh but a little pricey
GEISHA water chestnuts sliced 8 oz cans 12 pack. Kosher, gluten free, no sugar or salt added. Expiration date 3/2026, more than 2 yrs out.My mother used to get these cans for her homemade stir fries growing up. I’m not the biggest fan of water chestnuts personally, but my hubby likes them so I got them for him. The cost(28$ at the time of ordering) works out to about 2.33 a can. I cannot comment on whether they’re a good deal or not. I will say they’re about a dollar more than my local brand which isn’t the best value for me so I probably wouldn’t get them again.
