Can the mosquito net be completely removed?

Can someone advise how to tension the Mosquito net? The instructions aren’t very clear, the pack comes with two stretchy ‘ropes’ for this.

For the price.... amazing, but factor in other costs.

1st night use, I bought one for me and my son. Quality is good, comfort is good and for the price darn good!HOWEVER: If you're going to be wild camping there's a couple of key things you need to know.1. You'll need an under-blanket (£40 min) or use a cheap camping mat. I bought both and let my son use the under-blanket whilst I used the camping mat. What kind of father would I be if it was the other way around? He was complaining he was roasting hot, and whilst I wasn't cold, I did wake in the night to find my back freezing because the camping mat had shifted. So in short you will get away with a camping mat, but it's a lot of faff. My son said he was warm all night. By the way, the under-blanket was fitted in seconds! If you're interested this is the one I bought that fitted perfectly for this hammock:https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0894LBKXD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=12 You'll need a LARGE tarp (£30 min). Obviously if it rains you'll need something to direct the rain away from your Hammock. I made the mistake of buying 'two' without paying attention to the sizes. Discovered on setting up they were far to small and a good chunk of either end of the hammock was exposed and as they're banana shaped, had it rained, water would have run down and gathered in the base of the banana and we'd have been screwed. Thankfully, we missed the bullet and it didn't rain, but I now have two £20 tarps that are pretty much useless for the job, so do your research and make sure you buy a tarp that's large enough to cover the entire length. So whilst the hammock itself is cheap, factor in the other costs. As for the Hammock itself, I can't fault it and it was one of the best nights (camping) sleeps I've had. No sore back / shoulder, and being able to see out into the forest night was lovely. I used it with a sleeping bag, but zipped the bag up only a little for my feet, had the sleeping bag back to front and simply used it like a duvet. I was warm all night with the exception of the period I described above. The mosquito net, or midge net as we call it in Scotland was better than I thought. Once in, zip it up and you're protected from those little..... $*$*##s It does lie against your body / face but it didn't bother me or my son, and I even worked out I could use a small carabiner clip to attach it to the para cord holding the tarp up to have it free from your personal space.Setting it up was unbelievably quick. There was some trial and error setting up my one, but once I'd figured it out, I had my son's one up in less than a minute (try doing that with a tent!). Took way longer to get the tarp set up.Taking it down and packing it away was also super fast. Tip for you though. Unclip one end only. Leave the other end attached and roll the hammock up passing the pouch, all the way to the other end. Unclip the other end when it's completely rolled up and pop it straight into the pouch. Thank me later for that one :)As a motor cyclist who likes to solo camp, I can't ever seeing me going back to a tent. The fact everything packs up to a very small footprint is fantastic.

If weight and size is important, than that's the perfect hammock

The hammock arrived in no time in a very light parcel, which made me wonder if the hammock really would be strong enough.Once the rain had stopped, it was time to try my new purchase. The hammock - made of Parachute Nylon - comes in a small back, with 2 long looped straps (on both ends), 2 ropes and 2 light-weight pegs.Having only one suitable tree in the garden I had to attach a hammock hanger (which I had bought a few weeks ago) to one of the wooden sleepers before I could set up the hammock. I looped the strap twice around the tree (to shorten the length) and attached the aluminium carbine to the other loop.I knotted the second strap and attached it to the hammock hanger on the wooden sleeper. (If I'd had another tree in close vicinity I would have looped it around the tree trunk, like I did with the first strap.) I picked up the end of the hammock and attached this carbine to the loop of the strap. The whole setup process was a couple of minutes only. Now it was time to try the actual hammock. I opened the mosquito net, slid inside and closed the net again. There is a elastic from one end of the hammock to the other, which keeps the net high above your body and you shouldn't be stung through the net. It also leaves lots of space for reading a book without touching the net. Living in Scotland and being pestered by midges when camping, I should be able to eat my dinner in the hammock in peace.Turning from left to right was easy. Not as easy as on a flat surface, but easy enough. It also was quite comfortable, as I realised after having a snooze in it.I then tried the hammock with a self-inflatable mattress. No problem getting the mattress in, but due to its width the mosquito net is quite a bit lower. Still good enough protection from mosquitoes when sleeping.I added the 2 ropes to either side of the hammock to give it a wider base. Not sure if they are necessary, if it's only one person sleeping in the hammock.Regarding this being a 2 person hammock ... I guess if you are very much in love with each other, you don't mind being that close. Personally I prefer my own space. It's a bit like the 1-2 person tents; technically 2 people can sleep in it, but it isn't really comfortable. The hammock folds nicely into the attached bag. Straps, ropes and pegs are added.Verdict: Great light-weight hammock with awesome mosquito net, for a great price. If weight and size is important on your holidays (hiking, cycling, canoeing, ...) than that's the perfect hammock.
