Works as intended
Its a laptop fan that fits the laptop it is listed for. It preforms as a laptop fan should, with the noise output level given. Not really anything else you can add for a fan.

Had one specific task, did that task fine
Fan died, needed replacement. This fit the model in the description and worked right out of the box. Just be prepared to disassemble most of the computer to get the fan out then the replacement installed. This fan worked fine and was an inexpensive replacement for a dead part.

Replaced non-working original fan, laptop no longer throttles itself (HP EliteBook 840 G2)
Bottom line: The fan works. Laptop is responsive and not throttling CPU.The fan I received is not an identical fan to what came out of my HP EliteBook 840 G2.Differences:- The fan I received is a 0.5A FCN (brand) while original fan (pictured) is a 0.6A Delta (brand)- The FCN fan did not include the captive screws, they must be transferred from the original/old fan and can be a PITA. Must remove split retaining ring without breaking it.- Half of the product pictures seem to be of the original Delta fan while the other half are of this FCN fan.Installation:- Remove the 2.5" HDD/SSD, the mounting screws go through the base enclosure- You have to remove the entire base enclosure which is held in by 16 T8 Torx and 7 Philips screws. 8 of the Torx screws have rubber covers that are reusable (no adhesive).- HP instructions say to remove the keyboard but this isn't necessary. You just need to loosen the two captive screws securing the keyboard to the base enclosure.- Two captive screws to release the old fan and one electrical connector.- Transfer captive screws from old fan to new and install in reverse order.Total install time ~40 minutes.I also took the opportunity to replace the thermal compound on the heatsink, which I'd recommend on a 6+ year old device. 4 captive screws to remove heatsink, some isopropanol alcohol to clean off old compound from CPU and heatsink, then reapply compound and reinstall. Will update if fan fails.

lots of screws
Fan works great. It was my first time replacing a fan on my HP... I counted a total of 30 screws (torx and philips) I needed to remove. Advise for others, take your time, have tweezers handy. HP could have easily designed the laptop frame to make it easier but they didn't.

Inexpensive part, but how do you value your time for labor?
Fan worked great for about 6 months then failed in the usual way - noise while running and during power-on BIOS reports fan malfunction. Seller was courteous in offering partial refund upon warranty request. Considering this is not a trivial part to swap and required significant time to disassemble the case, next time I would choose genuine OEM for replacement.

Isn’t just a simple swap out
Took more effort than I thought it would. You have to remove a lot other items to access the fan.But I got it in and it’s perfectly.
