Worked like a charm

If you are considering using Glue or anything - DONT. Just pony up and buy a pack of these. Daughter broke an 1/8 plug off in her Aux Port in her GM Car Radio. I could hardly see the plug in the port, only knew that you could not plug in anything behind it. I slid this in, and very gently tapped on the end with a screwdriver handle... First time, half the plug came out. Second time the tip came out. Seriously - These little tools are handy... Don't manhandle it - be gentle, and you will save your radio...

It worked great.

I was it bit hesitant if this product would work but decided to give it a go. I read through reviews to see what worked and I had no problem getting out the jack on my first try. I inserted the tool into the headphone jack and taped it in a few times with the pliers. Then I gripped the tool close to the tablet and pulled, and it came out without any problems. I definitely would buy again and recommend it to others. The Apple Genius bar should buy them as well because they were no help to me when I went in to get it removed.

Doesn’t work

Didn’t work for us. Metal bent and couldn’t grab the jack inside.

It Worked!

We were on vacation out of state when my daughters headphones left the tip of the plug in her iPad. Headphones and external speakers would no longer work. We went to one of those “Fix your Phone” shops and they worked on it for 15 minutes with no luck. Thankfully audio would work with Bluetooth headphones.I did a quick search on Google and Amazon and found this product. I figured for $10 I couldn’t go wrong.First three tries I followed the instructions, felt the tube slip over the headphone piece, gave it a couple gentle taps, and tried pulling it out with my hands. No go.Fourth try I did the same thing except I used pliers to pull the tube out and I grabbed the tube closest to the iPad squeezing the gap in the tube to put more pressure on the headphone piece. I slowly pulled the tube out and there was the piece! Woo hoo!!This was very well worth the $ spent, even if it didn’t work. I was able to get this piece out, DIY with this tool, when a shop and tech who fixes this stuff every day wasn’t able to. Thank you!

Took more force than expected, but it works.

I tried the tips and tricks on youtube... coffee straws, pen ink tube, super glue in the end of the headphone plug still attached to the headphones. Tried super glue in all of those things, let it sit 24 hrs. Nothing worked. Then, came across this tool set.If you are careful and watch the side contacts of the headphone jack you may not damage your port when using this tool. My port got damaged when trying all the other hacks. This tool as made it worse, because the contacts were already damaged by my frustrations.Do yourself of favor and order this before trying those hacks. Also, it took way more force to get it past the broken tip than I anticipated. This could have been in part trying the other hacks with super glue prior to trying this removal tool. The instructions say squarely banging it in on a book or something like that once in all the way where you can't push it by hand. This didn't work for me... the sharp end (it is really thin rolled metal) cut into the book same when I tried it on a board and didn't past the broken piece. I had to bang mine on flat solid piece of metal (an anvil on a vice). Oncd fully inserted I crimped the tube of metal together with needle nose pliers to insure it wouldn't lose it's grip. After that it came right out, but it did take 2 tries to get it right.

Does the job

Little tool does a great job of extracting little pieces stuck inside a headphone jack.A little flimsy so it won't last forever. So its great to have a bunch around.

Excellent Tool

In the picture you may notice a crimped tube. I bent it on my first try but used it again and squeezed it when pulling it out and boom out came the jack from hubbies smart phone. I believe they provide 5 tubes because some may crimp on the first few tries. The tubes have to be somewhat flexible in order to squeeze them. If they were hard medal they would not be as user-friendly. I saw some reviews that say they were crap, but that’s because they could have used them with too much force. I tried to take advantage of my insurance that we have purchased on our phones and before I tried this tool and the replacement phone they gave me was trash so I opted to try to fix it myself for seven dollars that was great because my deductible was $49 Assurant. They have terrible service by the way. Get these read the instructions and go easy and it will work. I wouldn’t use glue.

Flimsy and delicate

I have a video camera which takes a 3.5mm microphone jack. The jack broke off inside its socket, and I bought a set of these to try to remove it. Although I carefully followed the instructions, the tools would not grip the stub of the jack to lift it out. I can see how these are intended to work, and perhaps on a looser fitting plug they might have some effect. But none of them worked in my camera despite repeated attempts.
