Works as advertised

This device receives an IR signal from your current remote control and retransmits it to an out-of-range-or-site device. I bought this because I have a BOSE Wave radio that I bought several years ago. It has great sound and I have enjoyed using it over the years. However, about a year ago, it stopped responding to the remote. Unfortunately, it does not have buttons for direct control - everything happens with the remote. I accidently found that if I positioned the Bose remote directly at the front panel, it would respond to commands. I determined the problem to be 1 of 2 possibilities - either the remote control was weak, or the Bose IR receiver was weak. Of course, I installed a fresh new battery in the remote, but nothing changed. I purchased a new remote control, but it was no better. I concluded that the IR receiver within the unit was defective, but I couldn't find a replacement. I was disappointed that my Bose radio was no longer usable. Then, I came across this IR range extender and decided to give it a try. I installed the small IR emitter right next to the IR receiver on the radio and now eveyrything works as it should. The range extender brought the Bose radio back to life.

Remote control extension

This is pretty much a piece of junk I've done everything I could think of plus looked at YouTube videos for instructions on it I've done them and that doesn't do anything to help it work so I wouldn't advise anyone to buy it.Delivery was fast and well shipped but Item is a joke

Works well but comes with no instructions and no power brick.

For the price it is fine, but it would be nice if they were more clear that there are no instructions (not even a simple slip of paper) so you have to return to Amazon to figure out which end is which. And make it more clear that there is no power brick so you need to provide your own USB charging port to power it.Like I said, still a good value, just please make the ad more clear so I can buy all the parts at one time instead of needing to buy the power brick later. Fortunately, I had an extra.

It works well, if you plan ahead your equipment

This product works fine. I have the receiver in one room where I have speakers, and the emitter as well as the stereo receiver, is in another room. The length of the cable is the primary reason why I chose this IR receiver. There are two stickers - one to mount the receiver and another to mount the emitter on your stereo (or whatever piece of equipment is accessed with an IR remote). It works reliably. For sure. The main beef people have with this product is that the USB plug that powers the cable is connected via a Y adapter that is approximately one foot from the emitter. The branching point cannot be adjusted, so your USB power source has to be very close to your emitter. Alternatively, you need to buy a USB extension cable. In my case, my stereo is plugged into (and sits on top of) a rack system surge processor that has USB outlets. This makes it convenient. But, if you don't have a nearby powered USB plug, the short length of the cable (from the branch) will be an issue.Pay attention to the figures and the distances mentioned.Beyond this, the receiver-emitter works like a charm.

Works once you are finished swearing at the design

The USB power connector is ridiculously close to the IR transmitter. There is a ridiculously long cable (25') between the other two. I had to get a USB extension cable in order to use this. The power connector and IR transmitter are securely lashed together so you can't use some of the excess cable length to solve the problem. Most people probably won't have a USB socket within a foot of the IR transmitter and will have to do the same. Some sort of double-sided adhesive tape should have been provided to secure the IR receiver and IR transmitter. How much more would that have cost?

Never got it to work.

I was hoping this would work but it never made one difference. It wasn't worth the trouble to return it.

Don't believe the negative reveiws. Know what your doing

So I had to play with it a bit to get it to work. From top to bottom: receiver, powered USB which I added a ten ft extension, sending unit.See the sleep just to the left of the sending unit? That's the input for this AC. I had to try multiple spots on the unit until I found the signal input for the AC. So I just have to tape or keep the receiver over that and all good. Is it working... If the powered receiver lights up when you hit your remote then it's working. Just remember to try different spots on what your trying to install because your not using a remote in your device anymore. Your using a tiny repeater broadcaster. I didn't try it separating to repeater from the device. That might give it a broader signal to power your device
