Never tried powdered milk before. I'm a convert.

I had been buying nonfat milk that always seemed to be going bad before I could use it. I got tired of wasting money. I wanted the convenience of knowing I had milk available all the time, without worrying about it going bad. And that meant I needed to get ahold of some powdered milk. I had never tried powdered milk before. There are some sort of negative associations with powdered milk, but I thought, hey- just go on Amazon, read the reviews, and see what's what. This brand of milk got good reviews. I liked that it is pasteurized, and that it is non-fat. It is also a good price compared to others. I placed my order. There was a learning curve to making my first couple of batches. I put the water into a bowl, added the milk powder, and whisked. And whisked. And- whisked. I was starting to think I was never going to be able to get the powder to dissolve properly. I was using a wire whisk, and it seemed to take forever to try to blend all of the powder into the water before putting the mixture into the fridge. In the end, I gave up trying to vanquish the lumps, did the best I could, and put the liquid into the refrigerator. I found if I let the "milk" sit, the powder all seemed to dissolve. Or, at least when I used it, I wasn't finding any lumps.I am on a no- or lowest sugar possible diet, and use non-fat milk to make zero sugar pudding as a treat. I did taste the reconstituted powdered milk before I blended it into the the powdered pudding (lots of powdered food around here lately, lol) and to my surprise- it tasted great! I had smelled the milk mixture as I was blending it, and it had sort of an odd scent. However, there was no odd scent to the refrigerated milk, and no odd taste. At all. It tasted- well-- it had a very neutral taste. It didn't taste like water, though. It tasted like non-fat milk, which really doesn't have a ton of flavor. But the SANALAC milk did have that nice nuance of dairy flavor. I was very pleasantly surprised, actually, at how good it tasted. As far as the blending issue- I am now making the SANALAC milk in larger batches, and am using my hand blender to do so. The hand blender gets the powder/water mixing job done in no time, with no "are there still any lumps in there?" issues at all. The mixture does froth up quite a bit, but this is normal, I've come to find. The bubbles subside eventually, and the milk is fine. I just pour the blended, bubbly mixture into a an empty juice pitcher, and put it into the fridge.I usually use the blended milk within two or three days. It is always nice and fresh-tasting. It doesn't say on the container, which is kind of odd, how long the mixed milk is good for in the refrigerator. I imagine 3-5 days is best, if the blended milk is refrigerated immediately after mixing. Of course, the smell and taste of the product will let you know if it is still ok to drink, and there is a 1-800 number on the container. I might call it, as I am curious, but honestly as I use it up so fast after making it, the freshness of the milk is not an issue for me.If you are considering trying powdered milk in order to save money or as a back-up pantry item, I thoroughly recommend this SANALAC non fat milk. I am now a repeat customer. It’s good stuff.

Easy to use!

Always handy to have a dried milk powder in pantry. I don't drink milk or use much milk in recipes, therefore, I keep dried milk powders around when I must have milk. I use this dried milk powder frequently in my yeast breads. It has a neutral taste, no smell, & easy to use. I mix the powder in warm water to get the powder to dissolve well and that definitely helps with no lumps. I chose this powder because there are NO extra ingredients like most milk powders.Disappointed as the price continues to increase in a couple months after purchasing. Don't think the price should have increase $5.00 extra dollars but who am I to question increasing prices of products?

Creamer

If you put cream in your coffee you should try powdered milk instead of that stuff with all that junk in it we buy the grocery store and some flavoring if you want is available like I like. Vanilla or you your favorite there are many flavor oils you can buy to put in coffee. But I decided no more don't get drunk and my creamer this is more healthy there are many brands of powdered milk. Small packages or bulk. I like the fact that it is less junkie junk it's real. I think it's better for me you might like it too 🐄

Makes great tasting milk

I use this for my everyday milk. I like the flavor. It is easy to mix in warm water. I make a quart at a time. Regular 2% milk was tasting too thick so I got this. Works great when mixed to make gravy, add to cream soups, make dressings.

Perfection in a canister

I’m so glad this comes in a big canister like this. I don’t have to go out and buy a gallon of milk, just hubby and I, we don’t drink it much. So I can make small amounts whenever I need to. Also perfect for baking!!!
