Love it

The Schrade Delta Class Extreme Survival Fixed Blade is a robust and versatile tool designed for serious outdoor enthusiasts. With an overall length of 10.75 inches and a 6-inch AUS-10 steel blade, this knife offers a solid balance between size and maneuverability, making it ideal for both camping and bushcraft tasks. The AUS-10 steel provides a good combination of edge retention, corrosion resistance, and toughness, ensuring it can withstand tough cutting, chopping, and prying duties without dulling quickly. One of the standout features is the non-slip grip, which provides excellent control even in wet or cold conditions. The ergonomic handle is designed to reduce hand fatigue, making it comfortable for extended use. The full tang construction adds strength and durability, ensuring the knife holds up under heavy pressure. The blade’s shape is well-suited for a range of tasks, from batoning wood to preparing food, though its thick spine may make it less suitable for intricate detail work. The sheath is functional, offering secure retention and easy carrying options, but some may prefer additional features like a belt loop or MOLLE compatibility.Overall, the Schrade Delta Class Extreme Survival Fixed Blade is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable survival knife that can handle a variety of outdoor challenges. It’s built to last, offering both performance and durability, but might not be the best fit for those seeking a more refined blade for fine tasks.

Nothing of noteworthiness

This is a well-made knife that comes across as being durable but under heavy use, there is the issue. You would like to believe it is well made and is solid enough to pass every-day use. The blade/handle, however, is debatable. The blade, or at least this one, wasn't as sharp as other Schrade knives, but I was able to put a decent edge. Good? Not. After a day's use it was dull enough to resharpen. Given rise to how this was heat treated (hardened). The overall length renders this an alright camping knife and may have some use for some camping needs. Other than that, it would be a desperate time to take this to the field. Nice knife to have in one's inventory and have available when a knife needs to be used. The sheath is up for debate as well. On the belt, it seems weak. I cannot comment on attaching it to a pack, but that, too, looks questionable. Overall? Nice to have and nice to keep handy. It can serve as a good camp knife with proper treatment and proper use. Heavy work? It may work well for some.

Another good value from Schrade. (But not one of their heavy-duty models.)

Schrade makes some good knives these days and this one is no exception...it's a nice knife, especially considering the price. It isn't as robust as the other Schrades I have, the "survival" and "frontier" models. 5/32 of an inch in thickness vs. 7/32. And lighter in weight, of course (which isn't a bad thing). Fit and finish is good. The handle is comfortable, but might seem smallish for someone with big hands. Nice grippy texture. Not sharp as received, but I have no doubt that that will be easily remedied--I have other Schrades which use the 8cr13mov steel and you can put a good sharp edge on 'em. The little tool with its spring-loaded retaining pin is quite clever in design and storage but I have found that I like the knife better without it. Removing it leaves the handle with some hollow spaces but that shouldn't be a problem--the handle material appears to be strong and durable. And without the tool in place, the tang has a nice strong-looking pommel with a lanyard hole. I have seen remarks that indicate the tang can slide around a little within the handle--I can't speak with experience whether that is or is not possible, but inspecting the handle and seeing how it is molded around the tang, I don't see how it could go anywhere in any direction. The shape of the tang would appear to prevent any movement of the handle, or so it seems to me. The sheath secures the knife reasonably well and gripping the handle while pushing against the sheath with the thumb causes it to spring free with ease. The sheath won't win any prizes, but I like it better than the nylon sheaths that most other Schrade knives come with. And it is well constructed. Personally, I would prefer that those fake saw "teeth" (or whatever they might be called) were not a part of the design, but I can live with 'em, I guess. I would classify this model in the medium-duty category, with the capability of performing some heavier work if needed. I wouldn't want it to be my primary tool. It would be a fine back up knife, or one that is stored in a vehicle and/or in an emergency bag. Schrade makes some excellent knives that are more heavy-duty and cost just a few dollars more.
