Have a Question? See What Others Asked

I was reading that you cannot run the lan jack and wifi at the same time on this device, is that true? Has anyone else experienced this problem?
i'm using this with netgear router (with port forwarding). therefore i have to run this modem in bridge mode. would i be better with a cheaper modem?
This says it isn't compatible with at&t, does that mean my iphone, with an at&t connection, will not be able to use this modem?
where is the wps button?

Six+ years and still going strong

This brand-new router was purchased in April of 2019 and has not let me down a single time in more than six years of use. Today is 5/16/2025, and still going strong. I have been looking for a replacement only because the stupid tariffs will do who-knows-what. Am sorry to see that Arris has poor reviews, but then, I only use it for wi-fi.For me, I love it.

Good buy

Works great. Wish it would allow an extender to be used with it though

Fast, Easy Set-Up, Works Like a Dream with Cox

After struggling for 5 hours trying to get two different Netgear routers to work only to find out that Netgear was blocking my devices until I paid them big bucks for some bogus security service subscription, and realizing, because of that, the new stand alone modem I got was now useless too...I decided to just go "all in one."I studied Cox' list of accepted devices and this little beauty by Arris seemed to check all the boxes. I've always had great luck with Arris Surfboard products, and this combo router/modem is no exception. Super simple to set up with the quick start and QR codes. They even include ALL of the numbers/passwords/codes you might ever need to make things work right inside your little quick start booklet! So when I got Cox on a chat, I just told them all the numbers, they swapped out my new combo device for my old modem, bingo bango, I'm back in business! No glitches, no issues, no useless subscriptions, just powerful speeds and super fast connectivity. Little bonus? The lights are a soft green and very easy on the eyes, even at night. As to cost, the two-device method would have been $150, versus this one and done unit at $80. Your mileage may vary, but I'm very pleased with my decision and purchase. Happy shopping, all!

Not a stable Cable Modem. Don't be fooled by speed tests!

Update:This CM keeps losing connection to Xfinity. There is a known issue with this modem due to it using a specific Intel chipset for CMs.From:approvedmodemlist_dot_com/intel-puma-6-modem-list-chipset-defects/#modemlistIntel Puma 6 Defect ExplainedDo Not Buy Intel Puma 6 Modem ListDo Not Buy Intel Chipset ModemsIntel’s Puma 6 chipset included in several cable modems is defective as it allows high spikes in network latency quite often (slow web page loading, for example). These severe network latency spikes interfere with online gaming, streaming video, or simply surfing the web. Network jitter (variable latency) also causes problems. The Puma 6 modems suffer from both latency and jitter. Some firmware updates have only temporarily fixed the problem and it seems Intel has no real fix for the issue. Consequently, these bad internet connections landed cable modem maker ARRIS in trouble with a pending lawsuit filed in California.Puma 6 Defect LawsuitThe Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe law firm has begun an investigation into the issues and has filed a class action lawsuit for consumers of affected modems. If you own one of the affected modems (listed below), you can file your issues and get alerts to any possible legal action against Intel and the cable modem brands (particularly ARRIS).On the Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe Puma 6 Chipset Defect page, you can check out the full lawsuit details. On top of it losing its WAN connection whenever this happens the LAN side of the router drops out as well so you can NOT manage it. This is unacceptable. I wish I would have done more research before purchasing this CM since the return window is now closed and I am stuck with an anchor.Furthermore, this CM suffers from 3 major issues:1) Connection to the Xfinity drops out approximately 5-6 times a week for about 5-20 mins each time. One needs to go through one or two power cycles of the CM to restore service. From the status LEDs you can see the CM has not even ranged yet.2) The connection between PC and CM drops out. This happens about 2 times a day. Need to unplug and plug in Ethernet cable. The last issue is its week WIFI range and sporadic drops.I use both the wired and wireless connections to this CM on the "private" network side of this CM (i.e. the CPE side).Figured with the Arris name it would have performed better. My really old Xfinity CM never had these issues. I upgraded since I wanted to utilize more of the BW I was already paying for from Xfinity. May go back to older, more reliable CM at this point. If you are looking for a stable CM, where your connections are going dow everyday then my suggestion is to look elsewhere.

Faster speeds than Xfinity provided modem

I bought this modem with wifi included used. I previously used the Xfinity modem and was paying 15 dollars a month in rental fees for 150 Mbps. This modem singlehandedly increased my speeds to 450 Mbps, works extremely well. just sad I lost the custom wifi name and password. It's only been a couple days of using through, will update later if something happens.

Hard set up

This was insanely hard to get setup with Comcast. It took me about three hours and several calls to Comcast Support and then Arris support to finally, finally get it set up. It arrived with recommendations to get an app to set it up, but the app didn't support this model, so it routed me to another app which also didn't seemingly support this model, so I ended up on the phone for hours.Once I got it set up, the service is fine.
