Smith & Hawken Garden Structures

I received this book today and had such a difficult time putting it down ! The book is far nicer than I expected - it is chock-full of information, ideas, and inspiration ! I love the way the book is set up by categories of ornaments and gives you lots of photos of options to dream about !I HIGHLY recommend this to the new gardener (as well as those professionals!) who are looking for ideas on what to buy, where to put it and how to enjoy it !

As a gardener always looking for new ideas, I like to collect books like this. I would say they are more "coffee table" than instructive, but usually there are a few ideas that are appealing. Unfortunately, resourcing the beautiful ornaments is another story...especially since this book came out years back. Even so, it's nice to just browse through and absorb nice pictures of green environments.I would love to find an old sundial as pictured on the cover....good luck with that!

This is a gorgeously illustrated book with hundreds of ideas to inspire the gardener who wants to add architectural elements to their garden. Be aware, however, that this is mainly a collection of photographs and does not provide much in the way of how to actually go about constructing these projects yourself. The book is divided into sections covering fences, walks, hedges, structures, etc. Each section features an array of photographs which illustrate every conceivable aspect of the topic. The photos are beautiful and are the definate selling point of this book.

I loved the variety of information on garden structures and the beautiful photos.

A lot of nifty ideas about ways to add dimension. Some tricks are cheap and creative, others require investment. If nothing else, browsing the pages is inspiring, a demonstration of the infinite possibilities.

This book is inspirational and has provided some ideas to try to incorporate into the farm garden landscape (using alternate plants that can tolerate the Texas heat). Also gave a copy to a fellow gardener who is delighted with the contents.

Was looking for design ideas. This is a good book for that purpose. It's also just fun to browse through. Some of the settings are so beautiful and peaceful and wonderfully photographed. Nice enough to leave on the coffee table.
