Worth the price. Works great. Highly recommend!

We’ve always had big dogs and all have been big chewers. But even for small dogs, this bully stick holder will be a lifesaver - LITERALLY!We have 2 dogs now, a 4 month old Boxer puppy and a 7yo Pitbull. The puppy is teething so we wanted something for her to be able to gnaw on (besides our hands, feet, shoes and furniture). Our pitty has anxiety issues and chewing on something calms him (actually, most pitties feel the need to gnaw on something to self-soothe).Unfortunately in the past, I had 2 dogs who nearly choked to death - one on a rawhide chew and the other on a bully stick. Both were supervised while enjoying their treats, but as they chewed the material and it got slimy, it would go down their throat.I’d look at them every few minutes and they’d still be chewing so I thought they were ok… until they weren’t.On separate occasions I had to grab the last 4-5” of the chew from their mouth and pull it out - only to realize that they’d chewed the other half of the material into a 10+” long thick string of slime that had gone all the way into their esophagus.2 different dogs did this on 2 separate occasions, so I swore off all rawhide and bully stick chews for the last 7-10 years. Now, with a puppy who is teething I had to get something to satisfy her need to chew and smooth her gums but I was deathly afraid (as you can imagine) to try rawhide or bully sticks again - UNTIL I CAME ACROSS THESE BULLY STICK HOLDERS.I apologize for the long review, but I think you’ll appreciate this - especially if you love your dog(s) and will do everything you can to keep them happy, healthy and safe. When I say these holders are AMAZING, I mean it.I secured a bully stick into a holder for each of our dogs, keeping the tail end of the bully stick flush with the outside of plastic holder. That way, if they chewed it down to the plastic, I knew there was still at least 1.5-2”left secured in the holder (a small amount worth throwing away to avoid a choking hazard).Yes, these cost $29 each, but if you value your dogs life, they are worth every penny.Believe me when I say, you never want to find yourself reaching into your dogs mouth in a life or death effort to retrieve the chewed end of a treat from their throat as they look at you in a panicked state and you can tell they can’t get any air. These holders secure the bully stick so your dog can’t get the last few inches and it gives them something to hold their paws in while chewing. So… I tightened the bully sticks in place with every ounce of strength I had to make sure they didn’t loosen up at all. The metal teeth and metal spike that hold the bully stick in place worked great, but be sure to really tighten it in there. I’m guessing the metal teeth perform far better than any plastic alternative.I know many people have praised this device, but also felt it was expensive. In my opinion, my dogs life is worth spending the $29 for this device if it saves them from potentially choking, an emergency vet visit (if you can’t dislodge the treat from their throat) and possibly death. You will throw away the last 1.5-2” left in the holder, but better that then buying long bully sticks and taking them away from my dogs when they only get half-way thorough (assuming you don’t use a secure bully stick holder) out of fear that they’ll choke on the rest.If you have a dog that loves to chew… and you love your dog, don’t hesitate to spend the money on this. That said, even with the bully stick holder, you should only give your dogs treats while supervised. We’ve given our dogs bully stick treats 3 days in a row… and these holders have worked great.

Everything I wanted in a bully stick holder.

What a fantastic bully stick holder! I had to buy a new one for my dog because the one I had, had a hard plastic pin that was holding the bully stick in place and after a year it finally snapped and broke off. What I love most about this holder is the metal teeth and pin that hold the sticks in place. I don’t have to worry about them breaking and since they are metal they grip much better. I also really like that the holder has a gritty coating on it to make it easier for dogs to hold onto. The other one I had was a smooth plastic and my dog had to fight to hold it in place because it kept slipping out of her grasp. Lastly, the way you tighten it is very helpful for people like me who have arthritis. If you can tighten a pickle jar then you will be able to tighten the holder. Now I know it is a bit pricey but the value is there. It can withstand power chewers like my dog. It’s going to last for years. It’s also washable. You can even throw it in the dishwasher without any problems. Oh and let me add this; I have 3 dogs. Two small and 1 medium. I was concerned about the sizes of the holder. I thought it would be too big for my little chihuahuas. It’s not. They do just fine using it. It isn’t too heavy for them. I am glad I went with my gut and gave this bully stick holder a chance. I wasn’t disappointed.

Works on thick bully sticks and prevents choking and makes them last longer!

Love this bully stick holder, works great for all sizes! I usually use the thick fully sticks for my 55 lb dog who's an aggressive chewer and without this which you a 12-in bully stick pretty quickly like 5 minutes because when she got it down to about 5 in and chewed it she would swallow it. Now it takes her longer cuz she has said shoe the majority of it, the bully steak and then I removed the last little bit which is about an inch and throw that part away. Great for making the bully sticker lasting longer and safe so she doesn't choke on trying to swallow a big part of the voice too.Sometimes if I don't tighten it enough she can pull the bully stick out so I have to check on her while she's eating it.

Ramona Approved!

Definitely worth the price for the peace of mind! We have a 5 month old pup, Ramona, that is picky about her chew toys. She LOVES bully sticks but I was worried about the potential of her choking on the end bit. After a lot of research, I settled on this brand. It is a bit expensive, but I trust it. It's very durable; she picks it up by the bully stick and slams it wherever she feels like laying down to chew. She has also flopped it around and the bully stick stayed tightly secured. She loves that the chewsie acts like handle bars to help her hold it, too.It was super easy and intuitive to use, I didn't even need directions. Just pop it in and screw it tight--ta da! I'm so glad inventions like this exist so we can keep our pups safe. Definitely recommend!

Better than other brands we've tried. Could use some improvements to make it even better

Overall it works pretty well. Our dog (Doberman) will swallow 4-5 inches whole if we don't put the bully stick in a holder like this. When it is in a holder, he works really hard to pull the bully stick out of it and is still sometimes successful depending on the shape of the individual stick.Things that may improve it:I do wish the inner pointy part was a little longer to really dig into the stick to keep it there regardless of size (since they're so variable). Maybe also making the ends a little longer/wider and flatter for better grip when a dog has big feet. Overall this brand has lasted longer and worked better than other similar products despite my dog's best efforts.
