Q: Are these made in the U.S. and how long to they stay cold?

Don’t know about USA I’ve only done the heat and it last about 3-5 minutes maybe the cold is same. I really like them

Q: How well would these work for oral surgery

I have used round gel packs for localized swelling on my face after surgery. The small round ones work well for "spot" treatment, like for a single tooth extraction. If you are having extensive surgery you might need one of the longer oblong-shaped gel packs. I was told to put a layer or two of paper towel between my skin and the gel pack so it is still cold but doesn't stick to the soft tissue of the face. Unfortunately, when I bought these one of the packs was leaking on arrival and one leaked shortly after freezing. I would recommend reading a lot of reviews for each brand and buy one that is more sturdy.

Q: Is it safe to transport in checked luggage on an airplane?

Not idea but my husband never used these - they do not stay cold.
