Excellent!
I really enjoyed this book, as I did the first of the series. There was a little bit of deja vu at the start of the book as the story goes back to just before the death of the sisters' adoptive father, which is essentially the start of the first book and relates the same sequence although through the eyes of Ally, the second sister. However we soon become caught up in the dramas that unfold in Ally's life and then follow her on her subsequent adventures in Norway tracing her roots. The book then switches between Ally's experiences in Norway and historical accounts of her great great grandparents' life and times in Nineteenth century Oslo then Leipzig, her grandparents experiences in Leipzig under the Nazi regime in 1936-38, their subsequent flight to Norway and the German invasion of Norway. All mixed with a good helping of musical history and the music of Edvard Grieg. A truly spellbinding read which at times I found made me quite emotional. Thoroughly recommended.
