Thanks to this fabulous map I was able to find my way around very easily. What a great invention!

All of the Landranger series of maps from, the Ordnance Survey are at 25.000:1 scale which makes them ideal for walking/rambling. However, they're not much good for navigating with if you're in a car as the scale is too large. Better to use a 50,000:1 for that purpose.I'm a member of a Ramblers group and we all use the Landranger series because it's the best available. OS Landranger maps undoubtedly set the Gold Standard for high quality general purpose paper maps. The 1:50,000 scale is ideal for walking in all but the most complex terrain, cycling and navigation in "terminal areas" by motorists. If you don't think these maps are simply brilliant, then it might just be your map reading skills and not the maps that are at fault.

OS are the best available - need I say more? Even so every now and then I come across errors indicating that in recent decades they have not updated maps very rigorously. Especially true in remoter parts such as Wales. But even so they are the best. the landranger series has become even more useful since they started marking the long distance trails. The Explorer series are even better and clearer (and have field boundaries) although I wish they wouldn't mark rights of way in green - its confusing. However if you are off on a longer route you need fewer landrangers and this cuts down the weight. I've walked LEJOG and found all the paths on Landranger only.
