To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings

A beautiful book.
I nearly missed out on this book having read a review saying it was the American or Canadian version of A Book of Blessings, the English version. It is not. The blessings and verses are completely different, and there are reflections within each chapter too. I really wanted the prose ‘now is the time to lie low.....’ which is contained within a poem only found in this book. It is a book full of thought, wisdom, reflections, and comfort. As a John O’Donoghue fan I am so glad I have not missed out on this book. Highly recommend it.

This is a beautiful edition of the book that I paid extra for because I saw someone read from this one.A beautiful wordsmith that understood people in all kinds of situations and gave words to inspire and comfort.

This is the same book as "Benedictus
This is the same book as Benedictus. This was not a problem for me as I bought the book as a present. Benedictus is such a beautiful book, I was happy to give a hardback copy of it to my friend. However, I thought it important to echo what others had said, so people don't make the mistake of buying the two.

Companionable book of wisdom
Superb personal testimony conveyed through insightful poems and deeply reflective prose passages. Death figures largely in these writings, but always positive, hopeful and forward-looking. Not surprising as O'Donohue died soon after publication. O'Donohue is no sentimentalist and these writings are full of a deep considered wisdom. An antidote to the crass materialism and shallow values prevalent in our society today.

simple verses that will touch your soul
This was my first venture into the greatness of O'Donohue, and I hope it will not be my last. Superb prayers and poems fill this volume with great thoughts and blessings."for one who is exhausted" was the poem that grasped me so strongly and I love to read it again and again. I read the birthday verse to my wife on the eve of her 50th birthday and together we enjoyed those words spoken over one in exile. This book is full of warmth and good ethical thinking that will stimulate the good in you, making you think of better times, places and ways.A bargain and a welcome addition to my bookshelf.
