These come all folded up. Hence, the rating as to sturdiness. There is a sort of “board”, but very thin, which is intended to make the square storage hassock/ottoman retain shape for storage — which seems to be working. Considering what this actually is, I thought it to be a little over-priced. None-the-less, it does look nice and has quite a bit of room for storage.

Original Review: I was hoping these would be passable for my small apartment space. I was pleasantly surprised at how well made they are. In fact, I like them better than my full sized ottoman. They assemble quickly. Not heavy but very sturdy. Nice color. Excellent storage capability. I have my grandson's toys in one and my crochet project-in-progress & crochet project yarn in the second. The lids fit snuggly so they do not slip around when you rest your feet on them.Additional Review from the second order: I'm in a small apartment but I engage in many different yarn projects. This is my second set of cubes. The original two are still sturdy and attractive. I am using the new set to store additional yarn and to keep tools like blocking squares, yarn winder, etc., in a reachable container. The ottoman is sturdy enough for me to stand on to reach a high shelf in a pinch although it is not meant to be used steadily as a step stool. I also use them for additional seating.

Nice sized little foot stool with storage. Was easy to assembly and appears to be holding up just fine.
