When I needed to fell a tree that was leaning towards a road, I decided to purchase some slings and either a come along or a chain fall to persuade the tree in the correct direction. Having worked in an industrial environment for many years, it was my experience that chain falls were used for heavier duty jobs, so I opted for the chain fall over the come along. After tying one sling around the tree being felled, and the other around a larger tree, I attached the chain fall between them, then cranked the chains and slings to max load. The 30’ tree being felled actually cracked under the load, and after a little chain saw action, it landed perfectly, I.e., not in the road.The unit is pretty heavy (over 30 lbs), and you need clearance to crank the chains (as with any chain fall). Short story (too late): the unit delivered, but if I were to do the same job again, I would choose a come along just because the chain dragged on the ground while the come along crank would have been clear of the ground.For any task actually requiring a chain fall, I would recommend this item.
