Wilton 415-0165 Small Cake Leveler-13.4 6.4 x 1.2-inch, Multicoloured, 5.3 x 18.25 x 38.83 cm

After seeing the video, I decided to purchase two of these Cake Levelers - one for my Mother and the other for myself as both of us were struggling to cut a round cake in half accurately and had since turned to tray bakes where our slices of cake resembled fat fingers - but at least the filling inside looked more or less level. Now the world has changed with this fantastic gizmo and we are back to baking round cakes again!Its a complete doddle to use - you simply set the wire to the desired height. To set the wires - gently push the side bars inwards - one at a time, the wire slackens and you can then either push the wire guide up or down. Once done, put you hand on the top of the cake which is on a flat surface, and gently make a sawing motion with the leveler keeping the plastic feet on the worktop surface at all times. The result - a perfectly cut cake with no wavy bits. It can cope with cakes up to 10 inches wide and the wire can adjust up to 2 inches - so plenty of flexibilityI highly recommend this cake leveler and have no hesitation in giving it a good 5 star rating - its just fantastic, worth every penny and I am currently kicking myself for not purchasing one sooner!

After deciding I was going to purchase a cake leveler/cutter, I opted for this one. The price was excellent and the Wilton brand-quality and I wasn't disappointed. First attemp-perfect. A dream to use. This will accommodate, cutting your larger cakes. 9 different heights available. The plastic handle on the top, is a good size-more than ample room to grip your cutter. The cutting wire is of good quality and is taught. Its very easy to adjust between height's. Comes is a cardboard box, with instructions etc on. VERY HAPPY with my purchase from Amazon! Just really put this through its paces-cut a 3.5" depth cake, into 4 even, smooth layers. 10/10!

This leveller may look similar to all the others but it is sturdy, easy to use and it works really well for doing the job it’s made for. I’ve had other makes previously but this definitely is the best of the small cake cutters. It cuts smoothly without much difficulty. It’s easy to hold with slipping and doesn’t hurt your hand when you hold it. It doesn’t tear at your cakes either as the blade is serrated not just a wire. I would definitely recommend it. It’s very good value for money too.

I Levelled 4 banana cakes with it. Works like a dream😊 .When using this product, make sure that your cakes are chilled prior to you levelling them.****wrap them in cling film and put them in fridge first)That way your cake will cut perfectly without the cake falling apart.The way to use this product is with a gentle sawing motion sliding gently through the cake, firmly holding your hand on top for the cake and assuring that the leveller is firmly on the surface level buy pressing down on the top of it when you are sawing.I hope this helps someone, Everyone loves Nice even straight tall cakes right xxx

I am a hobby baker and make multiple theme cakes for friends and family for fun. As with all hobbies over the last few years I've bought more kit and that in itself makes everything easier. I have had a similar cake wire cutter many years ago that was cheap and rubbish. However it's apparent as with many things paying a little extra is often worth it for quality. Having read the reviews on this I've plumped for this one. Previously I'd favoured the hold a knife against the cake and turn on turntable cutting method which although effective is fiddly and if your knife is even slightly tilted gives a not wholly level cut and I wouldn't feel confident doing multiple tortes with that method. I am extremely impressed with this Wilton cutter. It is so easy to use with a gentle sawing motion it cut through brilliantly and is so even and smooth. The cake I'm cutting is a vanilla sponge that's had vanilla syrup dropped through it so is much moister than an average sponge and softer than a denser cake like Madeira yet it cut through perfectly. I would happily feel confident using this to do several layers in a single cake as it's so precise. It was one of the few that I found with feet on too so no danger of scratching your surface and the big handle allows good control. All in all a brilliant buy and very pleased I invested in this one.

I am a little disappointing with this item. It doesn’t cut through the outside crust of my sponges. I have to use a serrated knife to cut through this outside layer first then use this Wilton leveller. This defeats the purpose of this item. Once I get past this outside layer, this leveller works well. Shame as I had high hopes!

Awsome cake cutter.This glides through cakes wonderfully giving an even cut, essential for levelling cakes! I have struggled for many years to get an even, level cut to my cakes but this makes the job so much easier.The cutter is for cakes 10" or smaller so no good if your baking very wide cakes and has 9 height options, it's not easy to change the height but I tend to use the same height for most of my cakes so this isn't too much of an issue for me to be honest but I imagine if your constantly having to change the height this could be a little annoying.It has an easy grip handle and flat feet for stability and overall it's very easy and cuts great!

Always wanted one to level the tops of cakes and halve them for filling. This was on offer when I got it, so glad I got it a little cheaper. It does the job yes, although you do have to do it very slowly with a sawing motion. When I got to the other side of the cake it did drag a bit and then pulled small bits off the edge, so it wasn’t as clean cut as I’d like, but maybe it takes practice. Will update the review if I get it to work perfectly.
