Works well with real Legos
This is a good set if you already have some spare lego parts available to make some modifications. For example, a single baseboard would be better than the 4 smaller ones that came in the box. The drawer was a bit tight to open and close so I removed the bottom tongues and groves then double up on the frame and add more support to the base. If you don’t mind the exposed studs, there are enough tiles to make a brown and black board and an extra one in white and brown.Edit to add the Tumble Tower which is a good source for spare parts.

Good and sometimes challenging LEGO experience
Because of the many dark pieces and the dark instruction pages, it is sometime difficult to know which pieces are indicated and how they are supposed to go together

Chess Board
I love this chess set. When building the board, make sure you squeeze each piece on all the way. There are a lot of layers and if you make the first layer crooked, the whole thing will be crooked. I also went a little out of order on the instruction manual by putting on the flat black and white pieces earlier in the build. It was easier than trying to place them on once the board was mostly built.

Coolest Chess set ever!
Pros: looks amazing, fun to build and fun to play. Cons: some pieces were a little loose on top of the chess pieces. Overall it’s 5 out of 5 because you have to factor in the price. It’s half of what Lego charges and for my money, it’s definitely worth it.

Do Not Buy
We wanted to love this. HOWEVER, once put together it wouldn't stay together. So it was impossible to actually use the chess game once it was built. The bricks do not snap together well, so it constantly falls apart. The flat bricks that make up the surface of the chess board wouldn't snap on well so you can't slide the chess pieces across the board. DO NOT BUY!!!!

Pieces, once together are not even or smooth! Missing Pieces too!
We put this together and found we were missing pieces. Also, the pieces don't fit together well, making the top crooked. It was cool to have until it looked sloppy put together due to the pieces not fitting well. I plan to glue the pieces together because they don't stay together well at all.
