Q: Can this handset be used with intercom systems of other brands?

No. This is a replacement tenant station for the VC-M system, it will not work with any other system.

Q: will this replace VA-K, my old phone has button for door opening?

Yes it will, but it requires a slight modification to the entrance panel to do it. Contact Aiphone Tech Support for the mod.

Q: I NEED THE CLEAR SHEILD THAT GOES OVER BUTTONS

Dee, this phone does not come w/ a clear cover. You could contact TelecomCreations & ask them if AIPhone makes one for this particular phone.

Q: Will this replace my VA-K handset?

The VAM has been obsolete for about 35 years. The current product is the VCM. Unfortunately, the VAK handsets will not work the the VCM. You will have to replace them with VCK handsets. If you have a bad VAK handset, it can be replaced on a VAM amplifier but you need to install a capacitor and a couple of resistors on the VAM for it to work. That's not difficult, and once it's done, you can mix VAK and VCK handsets on a VAM amplifier.

It’s really white!

Our phone intercom finally went to phone heaven, and we were grateful to see this still being made. Our original was “bone” color and visually an old mess, so imagine our shock to find out it started off white! After install, aside from the cord, our entryway was brought up-to-date. All-in all, we’re glad to squeeze a few more years out of our intercom system.

This item is WHITE in color (thank God)

I have not installed it yet so I can't comment on the functionality, but I just wanted to inform people that the color is actually WHITE and that is exactly what i was looking for (see picture).
