Q: Does the vehicle key need to be in the cylinder and in the acc position for this to work or does this do away with the OE keys totally?

You will need to use a cut key in the ignition switch turned to the on position so the steering wheel is unlocked. The push button start switch mounts over the ignition switch thereby covering the cut key. Hi if you turn off the car then step on foot brake while stepping foot brake pedal, you will start the car again. for turn off the car, just press the push start button once when step on foot brake pedal will shut off it. you can also shut off it with keep pressing the push start button for 3 seoncds, and not step the foot brake pedal. please check if there is any questions. regards, Eddy
