Seems pretty reliable
I bought the version which is triggered by daylight. So far it works great. Didn't have to adjust anything and it shuts about 20 minutes after the chickens go back inside. I've got mine hooked up to an external battery which is connected to a battery tender in case the power goes out. They include a little adapter to hook up some wire leads, so that was easy to set up. My only qualm with this product is the actuator is attached to the wall by only a single screw, which has a huge spacer on it. This means the actuator is sort of dangling off of a screw with it spaced maybe 2 inches from the wall. Doesn't feel very sturdy. I'm going to replace the plastic spacer with a block of wood screwed into the wall so the screw holding the actuator has a good couple inches into solid wood.My whole system is protected from the elements, so I can't speak to the weatherproof claim. I will say that the box with the electronics has nice gaskets and grommets for the door and cable, so I bet it is weatherproof. On a side note, it says this thing will stop a bear. Absolutely not. It's fine for foxes and raccoons, but there's no way it will stop a bear if it's determined. I'm pretty sure I could get through with my bare hands if I really wanted to.

It's working flawlessly
When I opened the package I was pleased to find some fairly stout looking parts and that's exactly what I wanted. The actuator feels nice and heavy, the door isn't flimsy and has a chrome plated hinge which looks like it will outlast the door. The control is made by JVR and making control devices seems to be their principle business. I am a fix it kind of guy so I was looking for something that you could actually repair if need be. Each of these parts could be replace with generic equivalents, although I don't think that will be necessary for some years. For example JVR makes a timer control for about $12 if that part failed.

Worth every penny!
This door was very easy to install and set up. We use the dusk to dawn sensor and it works flawlessly every morning and every evening!

Did NOT out of the box
I spent 45 minutes installing this product and it did not work out of the box. Make sure the motor and everything works before wasting your time to installing the product. They have a trouble shooting guide (for this exact issue), meaning it is a common problem. They also included 2 light sensors. Why would a company waste money sending you a spare part, because they have cheap parts and the first one may not work...I followed the guide and it still did not work. I contacted the company and they gave even more complicated instructions . I would not recommend this product as their instructions were poor and the guide to troubleshoot is best suited for those who have knowledge in electical electronics circuit boards. The plastics and parts were cheap plastic and would erode under normal UV exposure. Waste of money. Take the time and find someone who puts better care and attention into quality assurance.

Well built and easy to install
I previously purchased a less expensive brand and the motor was not strong, so the door kept stopping halfway up the track, so I had to manually push the buttons to get the door up; that was a waste of time, so I returned it and purchased the JVR Auto Chicken Coop door instead. This door has been wonderful! It took a couple of hours to install and I need to notch out an area for the door hinge to get past (Easy enough, with a grinder and sanding disc).A few of the reviews mentioned chickens getting caught under the door, but I have not seen that as an issue at all. The door moves very slowly and chickens are able to move, also the safety sensor stops the door if there is anything in the way so I am not sure that this would be an issue.I had an install issue (completely my fault). The safety sensor was stopping the door before the bottom of the hole because the actuator arm was crossing the path of the sensor and stopping the door. I sent a message to the Support team at JVR and received a response within 1 day and I realized my install error, corrected it, and now everything works perfectly!Thank you for a great product!

It does its job!
First and foremost, measure your door opening. Ours was much larger than this door would accommodate, so we knew we would need to modify our coop to use this opener. We ended up using our own door, along with the rest of the opener, so we could cover a taller opening. That said, this opener works fabulous! I love that you can use it inside your coop to avoid issues with snow and ice. Some other reviewers had issues setting up the safety eye, but no problems for us. Been using a couple of months now and we are still very pleased.

Poor customer service!
Or should I say, NO customer service! I bought the earlier version, which works great. I also bought the newer version which hasn't worked since the day I installed it. Both actuators trip at the same time, causing the door to go up and down repeatedly. Even when it is is manual mode, I can't get it to work without recycling the power. So much for a automatic door if I have to go out there every morning and every evening to run the door. I cannot get a response from customer service.

Works well, for about 3 months
It's easy to install, and it works well. Unfortunately, it stopped working after about three months. I needed it to work while I was on vacation, which it did (hence the three stars), but now it refuses to open or close.
