Great knife (plus a surprise), but shipping needs work.
Ok, a couple of things...both good and bad:First, the bad...the shipping. I'm an ex-pat that's been living in Bangkok with my family for the last 15 years. I've been ordering from Amazon all those years, having stuff shipped from home. This is the first time I've ever had something come late from Amazon. Literally, I always get things from them early...never fails. But this time, it's 3 days late. Also, after already having to pay $91 bucks for S&H, I had to pay an additional $52 today when the knife arrived. Honestly, in 15 years with Amazon, this is the first time this has ever happened. Now for the good part (the wait was worth it!):I'm a knife guy, and I've been collecting for a long time. The pic the seller has for this item is the first gen Hogue Deka...you know, the one with more screws in it than an ACE Hardware store! But when I got the knife today, imagine my surprise when I opened her up and I was looking at the new Gen 2 Hogue Deka! I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I was definitely expecting the Gen 1. I guess the old saying rings true, "Good things come to those who wait." Overall, very happy with the knife as it's my first Deka, and it can sit proudly next to my Benchmade Osbourne 940!

As good as expected
I read many good reviews about this knife before the purchase so had very high expectations. After an hour with it, I was not disappointed. The Good- Blade centering- Great action, easy to fidget with from the word go- Quality materials and construction that feels solid yet very lightweight- Finish is excellent. Stonewash on blade looks even. G-Mascus looks classy and is as unique as a fingerprint- Compound grind looks better in real life than in photos- The flick / lock sound is addictive- Pouch is high quality and snug - lined with navy fabricThe bad- The blade was surprisingly dull and could barely cut A4 printer paper but after 10 minutes stropping with green compound, it's much better. Nb. I am taking into account the compound grind will not be as slicy as other grinds. The Ugly- The parcel was shipped by Kerry Express. The parcel tracking was non-existent and the packaging had busted open with the knife in it's pouch half hanging out of the box. Fortunately there was no damage to the knife[Update] Blade has moved off center - a hair to towards pocket clip side after 1 day of fidgetingMy knife remained relatively dull and had a rear bevel at 28 and front bevel at 24 degrees which I found to be very steep. I reprofiled both sections to 24 and 22 respectively so the blade now slices better.

Great EDC knife
Great knife. Came super sharp out of the box. Perfect size for me as it fits my hand well. The scales are not my favorite I've ever used but do the job and provide good grip. The Able lock has spoiled me forever. Now my many framelocks just seem slightly inferior. The blade came perfectly centered and after adding a drop or 2 of KPL, it opens and close very smoothly. Love the (modified) Wharncliffe blade.I couldn't be happier with this knife. Yes, it is the new version with fewer screws and a very deep pocket clip.If you are on the fence, buy it. It's worth every penny.

My second Hogue…
This knife is a great edc at a good price. Useful, non-threatening size, color and blade shape. Decent traction on the handle, great steel on blade and this thing comes just stupid sharp. Out of the box blade was centered and no need to adjust pivot screw….opens and closes smoothly. I have large hands and handle is just a little small (narrow width across) for my taste but that would be my only quibble. Both Hogues I have are extremely well made and are every bit as good as my Benchmades (940, full size & mini Barrage and Freek Serrated). Also, I like the peace of mind and firm lockup of an ABLE lock design….no more liner locks for this cowboy. Highly recommend…other blade shapes may look cooler but I find this wharncliffe very functional.

Bugout Slayer
Jesus this thing is amazing! Before I got it I carried a Bugout in m390 and ,while I still like that knife,it's not been in my pocket since i got this Hogue. 1st off, 20cv and m390 are on par with each other to the point where they're basically equal. So why the Benchmade is well over $100 more is a bit of a mystery. Hogue has the best factory edge of any knife I've held under $350 and their over all quality is unmatched. They are a criminally underrated brand and everyone should own at least one.

Hogue Deka GEN 2 MADE IN 'MERICA
I was looking to buy a USA made knife and saw the Hogue Deka for $132,sure it was the gen 1,I did some research...after reading the reviews and checking model number,it is indeed the GEN 2,with less screws and DEEP CARRY CLIP!!Its usually $160+,so this is an AWESOME DEAL!!..the knife arrived in 3 days,2 days EARLY! it was packaged well..It comes in a nice padded Hogue pouch and when i opened it,I was pleasantly surprised..the g10 on these is spot on,very grippy and pattern is cool af!..the wharncliffe blade is a piece of art and unbelievable SHARP!!..I'm VERY happy with my Hogue purchase and the seller..I'm currently looking into my next Hogue purchase!

Less expensive alternative to Bugout
Sharp! Aesthtics are nice with handle color and blade shape. But that's subjective.I was on the fence between 4 or 5 stars. There is a slight bit of blade play side to side. I can live with it. I did not attempt to adjust or tighten the pivot. Also, the pocket clip can dig into hand depending on grip. Other than that mine was great. For the price it would be a great alternative to the bugout.
