PNY CS900 1TB 3D NAND 2.5" SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - (SSD7CS900-1TB-RB)

For my boot and game drives, I always use Samsung. For all other drives, I mainly use PNY because they're economical and good. I've been using them for years and have never had one fail. I have had Crucial and Kingston SSD's fail on me. I'm back here and the page is reminding me I bought my last PNY 500GB in Feb of 2024. I'm here to get a 1TB one because my 1TB WD Blue SSD just failed. It failed so hard that DiskGenius, Partition Wizard and NIUBI Partition Editor couldn't see it, only Linux Files and Windows Disk Management saw it but couldn't do anything with it.

This works great for replacing the hard drive on my PS4. It is pretty fast for a budgeted PS4 drive. It is thinner in height compared to most 2.5 disk drives but it will fit in your ps4 without much issues. I has a standard aluminum case and I had no trouble installing it. I did want to see how this would perform on on both Mac and PC so I tried it with that first also was my way to test the speed. The drive was able to work without any issues. It did not require any additional software and it was just a plug in play (minus the initialization. It also fit the sata port pretty well. The only thing I would say if you are installing this in laptops with a holder is that you may need to hold it up slightly as it is thinner than your normal 2.5 disk drive but honestly it would not be too much of a difference in installation. You always need to initalize it even with external. I did want to test the transfer speed using a 3.0 enclosure and the transfer speed is not too bad which is good. There was no extreme heat up to an alarming. I did a memory verification just to be safe and the storage memory is correct so you can be sure your data is safe. The speed works pretty well for my ps4. The games load faster and the PS4 does not lag during intense cut scenes which is what I wanted. I test it against some other 2.5 solid state drives (Samsung and WD) as well as the Seagate Hybrid drive and it was not bad. It is pretty on par with the most brand solid state drives. It is definitely a good drive to use for an upgrade from a disk drive to a higher capacity and faster storage. Unfortunately with so many games being big files 1 TB does fill up pretty quick. I was able to transfer all the data from my old PS4 drive to my new one but it did take time to back up and restore everything. Overall I like this drive. It has been reliable and fast. I have not had any issues with it slowing down or failing.

A great drive at a great price. I have used several of these to upgrade or replace dead or smaller drives. Very reliable and silent. Interface is perfect and speed is always great. This one resurrected my Mother in laws computer in about two hours. Next day delivery too!

Performance and durability are very good for a budget ssd.

I had an old laptop that I was able to install Windows 11 on using a utility…supposedly the CPU wasn’t supported. While it was faster than the old Windows 10 it was still painfully slow. Got this SSD and did a clone of the HDD. Very easy to install and along with a RAM upgrade the laptop works well and is much faster. I have used PNY products before and was always happy with them. I could have bought more expensive SSDs but this works and I didn’t want to invest a lot on an old laptop that really doesn’t get used that much.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I purchased this drive because it was a good price for a known and trusted brand. It was easy to install and was recognized in my 2024 Dell PC immediately. There is no noise and it has been working, without failure, for several months. I am happy with my purchase.
