Great geek couples game

Bought this to spend more time with my wife; we are both math/logic/software geeks and like puzzles.Besides the amusement factor, winning (together; this is a co-op game) means understanding how each other think. I suspect it would be great in earlier stages of a relationship as an ice-breaker.

Fantastic game!

Wonderfully challenging game. Really makes you think outside the box. Great workout for the brain!

It's good, but could be better.

I love the codenames games, and own several versions of it.I wanted to try this one because of the two-player ability.I'm very familiar with how to play the game and assumed it would be easy to understand the duet version. I was wrong here. The game itself is pretty similar to the group versions, but the instructions were way more wordy and complicated than they needed to be. Once I was able to decipher how you tracked rounds it was fine, but in my opinion it took too long for me to figure out what they were getting at. The instructions could be rewritten to be more straightforward and concise.Other than that it's a fine game. I do prefer the group version though.

Mixed Feelings (Updated)

Two person co-ops are a rare breed. That in itself is almost enough for me to buy it so the wife and I can give it a go. We have mixed feeling about this one. First thing we'd recommend, if you do buy it, is NOT getting the XXL version. It makes the necessary play space larger than desirable, and worst is that it's so big, you can easily see which card the other person is looking at. Second, the game is built on not giving away any clues. The end result: My wife and I spent the entire game not speaking (beyond the allowed clue giving of a single word), and not looking at each other's faces, to not get hints there. If we wanted to not talk to or look at each other, we don't need to pay for a board game. All in all, we would not recommend. We're not even sure if we'll play it a second evening. But if you do buy it, get the regular size, not XXL.UPDATE 2020-06-04: Changing from 2-stars to 1-star, as we have no desire to ever play this game again.

A Review of Codenames: Duet on Amazon website.

My common-law wife and I play board games for relationship building. This year we bought “Code Names: Duet”. It is a nice green box. The box is split into two halves, a top half and bottom half. Both halves are green. I thought it was broken at first, but after several emails I found that the box was intended to be designed like this. Some of the game cards are symmetrical and some aren’t, not sure why this is. There are humans pictured on some cards, which is nice to see, me being a human. When done with playing the game for the day, put both box halves back together, creating a whole box. This is a cooperative game, which means it requires you to work together with your partner, NOT be enemies. This game is enjoyable because you are not enemies with your significant other. I would dislike the game if I had to pretend to be an enemy to my lovely live-in wife. Game rounds limit our interaction to just one word, which is nice. I dislike talking. Normally we enjoy the game “Telestrations”, which requires no talking, but I have difficulty drawing human emotions accurately. Playing this game has been a good alternative to watching trains, which is also enjoyable to do. I do get annoyed by my common-law wife’s incorrect pronunciation of the word arctic (ar-tik, which should be ark-tik). I will probably be looking for a new one next year.

Misspelled clue cards

I ordered a 2nd game for our house and keeping other in our camper as our family loves these games. I just opened the 2nd box which I purchased last July. Unfortunately, many of the clue cards are misspelled! Since this was ordered last July, the return date has passed and I’m not given an option to contact seller. They surely know by now there was an error on this printing. Can someone tell me how to get this edition replaced of code names duo? Actually, I’m disappointed the company did not contact us for free replacement!
